It's Pumpkin Time!!

Since Georgia had an bye week, Matt and I decided to have a productive weekend! Now you might be thinking, productive? Maybe they cleaned out their closets. Or maybe the carpet got a deep cleaning. Nope. (Although the closet cleaning may come tomorrow.)

By productive I mean...carving pumpkins!

Last year, we had a great time carving pumpkins. We had a great pumpkin where we saved the inside "guts" and it looked like the pumpkin was throwing up.

Ewwww

This year we went in a different direction. We found some awesome Georgia stencils at the UGA bookstore.
Go Dawgs!!

Hunker down Dawgs!

And we threw in Mr. Met for good measure...

We also got some great ideas for wedding favors today. We're trying to find something really special for our guests to thank them for joining in our special day!

Until next time...

Meet Our Wedding Party

So if you haven't seen our wedding web site, then you haven't met our wedding party.

Let me introduce you.

Matt and I decided that we really wanted a small wedding party...our closest friends and family. However, this at first left three people on Matt's side and two on mine. Me, being OCD, couldn't stand the proposition of having a non-symmetrical bridal party, so we decided on one attendant each.

My matron of honor will be my big sister, Carrie. We always had a great time growing up together, and I always looked up to her as being a role model. In fact, I always wanted to be exactly like her. Carrie is married and has a beautiful baby boy, my nephew, Jack. He is pretty much the center of everyone's world right now, understandably so.

Jack -- how could he not make an appearance in the blog?

Matt's best man is Jason Dollard. Matt and Jason met in Augusta, Georgia back in 2004 when both worked at WRDW. Matt was a newscast director and Jason was a meteorologist. As many tv people know, it's hard to make friends in the business, especially early on because everyone is moving around so much. Jason and Matt kept in touch when both went their separate ways. Jason ended up in northwest Arkansas at KNWA. That's where he met his wife, Noel, who is a teacher.

Making the decision to only have one attendant each means both of us had to make some difficult choices. Unfortunately, this means I could not have my best friend, Chaunte, stand up with me. Chaunte and I worked together at WLTX in Columbia, SC. Again, like Jason and Matt, our careers took us separate ways. I ended up in Jacksonville and then Atlanta. Chaunte ended up moving to Charleston with her now-husband Dave. I miss this girl like crazy!

There's still a lot of details to share with you about our special day.

The Details...

As Matt predicted, it's been two weeks since we got engaged and I pretty much have the wedding planned. But hey...the wedding is exactly two months from today. We have to make a lot of decisions quickly! Luckily, I knew pretty much what I wanted for our wedding from the minute we got engaged.

Here are some of the details I can share...

The ceremony and reception will be at the Hardeman-Sams House in Athens, Georgia.

It is a beautiful space. I have a friend from college who recently had her wedding reception here last December. It was gorgeous. The house will already be decorated for Christmas, which is great.

I know...it's December, but we'd like to have the ceremony at the gazebo behind the house.
Our florist is creating some small swags to put on the gazebo. We're looking at renting heaters if it is too cold. Obviously we'll have a plan B in case of inclement weather.

I'm WAY excited about our cake. We're actually going to do cupcakes. We found a great cupcake shop in Athens: Gigi's Cupcakes. We have an awesome idea of how we're going to do the "cake" and what it will look like. You'll have to wait and see on that...

I got my dress and shoes the same day I went looking. LOVE the dress, but I can't tell you what it looks like.

Both Matt and I are really excited about our photographer (we're going to meet and book him tomorrow). It's Mark Parsons Photography. Matt was sold when he saw one picture with the bride, with just her veil, looking at herself in the mirror. Looking back at her was the bride, fully dressed. Very creative!!! I'm hoping we are as excited after meeting him.

Other than all that...we've booked the florist, booking the DJ tomorrow, alterations are underway on my dress, garters are ordered and delivered, and invitations come tomorrow.

Can't wait to see it all come together and be Mrs. Suzanne Wooley!!!

Until next time...

We're Engaged!!

Yep! You read that right! Matt and I are getting married!

We've been talking about getting married for a little while now. I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with Matt. He complements me perfectly and always puts a smile on my face.

So, everyone always wants to hear the engagement story. In order for you to really appreciate ours, you'll need some background.

Matt and I are Mac people. We love our iPhones, iPods, and our MacBooks. This past May I bought Matt a new MacBook Pro for his birthday. Unfortunately for him, I love the computer just as much as he does. I'd rather use his than mine, mainly because the screen is bigger. So pretty much any time I go to a computer, I immediately grab his. (This information is important to the story.)

A few weeks ago, we decided we were going to start going on Friday night dates. This is mainly dinner and grocery shopping. But it's a fun evening for us.

Last night, our Friday evening started off pretty normal. We went to P.F. Changs for dinner at Cumberland Mall. Then we headed over to the Kroger on Piedmont Road (I love this Kroger for some reason).

When we got home, Matt started putting away the groceries while I changed, and then he wanted to trade off so he could get more comfortable. I finished putting away the groceries and headed to the sofa to watch "Say Yes to the Dress: Atlanta" (my Friday evening indulgence). Well, the DVR was taping two shows, so we couldn't watch anything yet.

I grabbed Matt's computer to check Facebook and email, and when I opened it, it started playing a slideshow video of pictures of me and Matt. Earlier yesterday Matt told me he was messing around in iMovie. So I figured he was just playing with the program. Matt was sitting next to me, and I started tearing up because it was sweet, timed out to our song. At the end, the last frame flashed to white and went to this:

Matt pulled the ring out of his pocket. And, of course, I said yes!

The only sad part to this story is that the ring is a little too small, when paired with the wedding band Matt will give me (it was his grandmother's...I've very honored and privileged to be the recipient of it because Matt was very close to his grandmother). So we had to send it off to be resized. I should get it back by the end of this coming week.

I can't wait to marry my best friend!!

More on wedding planning to come.

And stay tuned for the stories about house hunting! What a headache -- but will be totally worth it in the end!

Until next time...

Welcome!

Welcome to our blog!!

Matt and I moved to Atlanta at the beginning of the summer when I took a job with CBS Atlanta. It's been a fun few months, but the best is just beginning!

I figured it is time to start a blog to keep everyone updated on what's going on in the ATL.

Hope you enjoy!
